The title, The Months Between the Days, was thought up by Josiah. He thought that it was the perfect description of our relationship, in which we have gone months without seeing each other just for a few days together. While I was in school, I would fly out to Virginia to be with him for spring break. Once I flew out for a quick weekend, and we got all fancy and dressed up and went to the Army Birthday Ball. Hopefully it will be reversed in the future, and we'll have months together before having to be apart for a few days. In the meantime, we'll just keep on keeping on. Taking the days where we can get them.
So on to the first update:
Josiah is currently stationed in South Korea. He is a combat medic and works in the clinic on post. He mostly works as a medical assistant now, taking patient back to the exam rooms, taking patient histories and assisting in minor procedures. Other than that, he helps with and completes combat- simulation medic trainings.
While he's there, I'm still in Virginia. I work as a medical scribe for an ENT practice nearby. I work 1 on 1 with a nurse practitioner; I attend all the appointments and document them so the NP can focus on the patient. I do all the medical charting and document all the procedures performed. In my off time, I mostly just watch a lot of Netflix. We have a great group of close-knit friends here, and they take care of me while Josiah is away. They adopted me soon after I moved out here and have been very supportive.
Josiah should be coming home in the spring, probably (hopefully) in May. After that, we don't know where we'll be moving to next. The plan was Fort Hood, Texas. But as you may well know, plans change often in the military. So we don't know yet. I'm hoping that it will be somewhere with a lot of options for PA schools. I did apply this past April, but have had no bites yet and it looks like I'll be reapplying this year.
I'll let you know when we find out. I promise to keep everyone better updated from now on, and I will post another update again soon!
